The day concludes at Miriakamba Hut (2515 m), nestled in a picturesque glade with panoramic views of the plains towards Kilimanjaro. This Mount Meru climb promises a perfect blend of wildlife, diverse ecosystems, and awe-inspiring scenery, making it a must for avid adventurers.

Embark on a morning hike from your lodge to Arusha National Park’s Momella Gate (1580 m), guided by an armed ranger. Traverse open grassland, spotting buffalo and warthogs. The climb through Montane forest offers glimpses of wildlife like Black and White Colobus monkeys. Pause for lunch at the Fig Tree arch or Maio Waterfalls, surrounded by diverse birdlife. Descend to the crater floor, marveling at towering cliffs and the Ash Cone, before reaching Miriakamba Hut (2515 m) for a relaxing evening with stunning views of the plains towards Kilimanjaro.

The trek from Miriakamba Hut to the Saddle Hut which lies just below Little Meru is a short day but a steep climb. You slowly ascend through the lush Montane forest to reach the halfway point of Elephant Ridge Mgongo wa Tembo – apparently, an elephant fell into the crater here!).
From here you can enjoy excellent views of the summit ridge and across the crater floor. The path continues in a serpentine fashion steadily upwards through giant heather and other fascinating moorland vegetation to reach Saddle Hut (3566 m) where lunch will be provided. After a short break, you will proceed to ascend Little Meru (3801 m) as part of your acclimatization program. If you are lucky and the weather is clear you will be rewarded with stunning views across the Maasai plains towards Kilimanjaro.

Your guide will wake you at 00:30 for tea and biscuits. You will then begin your summit attempt at 1:30 am. The trail starts off on a steep grade from Rhino Point (3800 m) to Cobra Point (4350 m). In the last hour of the hike, you will scramble on a rocky ridge between the crater and inner cliffs of Meru. You will reach the summit of Meru (4565 m) at sunrise with spectacular views of Mt. Meru Ash Tray and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Enjoy your views then descend to Saddle Hut for a short break. You will then continue descending to Miriakamba Hut (2500 m) for dinner and overnight.

After a long rest and breakfast, we will begin our final descent to Momella gate. We will hike through forests and meadows where it is likely to spot wildlife. At the base of Mt. Meru, you will be greeted by our driver who will take you back to Arusha where you will be dropped off at your booked hotel.
